National Children's Month
The National Childre
n’s Month in the Philippines focuses on the theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines.” This theme highlights the urgent need to address various forms of violence against children, such as physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. It calls for collective efforts from families, communities, and institutions to create an environment where children are safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Key initiatives during this celebration include public awareness campaigns, educational programs, and advocacy for stricter enforcement of child protection laws, such as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262) and the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act (RA 7610). Efforts also emphasize empowering children with knowledge of their rights and providing families with tools to nurture safe spaces.
The celebration seeks to build stronger support networks for children through community-driven activities, including workshops, seminars, and creative projects. These efforts aim to create a future where children can flourish free from fear, supported by a society committed to their rights and welfare.
