Indigenous Peoples Month

Image
Image The National Indigenous Peoples Month in 2024, themed “Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge”, highlights the contributions and rights of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the Philippines. The observance promotes awareness of their unique cultures and traditions through festivals, exhibitions, and dialogues, such as the Dayaw Festival, which showcases the diverse heritage of Indigenous communities. This celebration aligns with the Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA), which ensures the protection of their lands, cultural integrity, and self-determination. By involving local and national stakeholders, the month encourages collaboration in addressing IPs' challenges, including land disputes and limited representation. Programs under the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) help communities secure ancestral land titles and advocate for their needs through mandatory representation in governance, reinforcing their role in sustainab...

Climate Change and Resiliency of Filipinos

Image
Image  The Philippines faces significant environmental challenges from climate change, deforestation, and rapid urbanization. Widespread deforestation for agriculture and logging has degraded ecosystems, reducing carbon sequestration and biodiversity. Urban expansion further exacerbates habitat loss and increases greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global climate challenges. Without effective policies, these trends could worsen environmental and social vulnerabilities. Climate change intensifies natural disasters such as typhoons, flooding, and droughts, all of which disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. Increased rainfall variability can overwhelm water management systems, leading to contaminated water supplies and health risks. Coastal areas face additional threats from rising sea levels, which jeopardize homes and livelihoods through saltwater intrusion and flooding To build resilience, the Philippines must prioritize sustainable practices, including reforestat...

Reflection

Image
I would like to share what have I gained or learned as Quarter 1 ended. I learned a lot about the history of the timeline of the internet, I also learned about Internet Architechs and also learned about blogs. I have encountered some problems/challenges with blogs. The first one is having a poor internet connection, sometimes the internet connection at school is slow and some of us cannot access blogger.com to post our blogs. And also the time, because we only have a short time to think and create our blog. I solved those problems by continuing the blog at our house so that I have more time to think and enhance the blog that will be created. Moving on, I will strive hard and keep enjoying the subject Ict. www.blogger.com https://galooli.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/glossary_1122x777_What-is-ICT.png https://img.techwallacdn.com/640/clsd/getty/95b115323a3e4c1fb0e645481a9446a0.jpg
